Who We Are
We are all parents who are interested in making our children’s learning experience at Metcalfe Public School the best it can be. Each year, a new Council is elected the first meeting in September and serve until the subsequent year’s election.
We are here to serve you, so feel free to contact us at any time to express a concern, ask a question, or simply to let us know if you think we’re doing a good job!

What We Do
Council augments the formal school program by delivering our own programs and financial support throughout the year. All funds raised by Council are redistributed back into the school. Currently we run a Hot Lunch Program and the Jingle Bell Bazaar. Visit our Programs page for further details.
When Do We Meet?
We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m at Metcalfe Public School. All parents are welcome. Drop by and add your voice to the mix.
Why
In lieu of a formal mission statement: Because we care about our kid’s education, their experience of school, and how they work, play and interact with their teachers.

My son Marc is in Mr Fitch’s 7th grade class. We would like to know if there are any plans for a fundraiser for Japan Earthquake/Tsunami relief. If so, we would like to volunteer in some capacity. If not, I would like to suggest a “Treats for Japan Relief” fundraiser (based on “Treats for Tanzania” that Osgoode public holds). Parents are requested to send in a treat (everything from a baked good to a jar of candy). Students are then asked to buy tickets (25 cents apience to 5 for $1). There would then be a Chinese auctions where students put their tickets in for the item they’d like to bid on (1 class every 40 minutes?). The winners would receive their treat at the end of the day.
I would be willing to help organize this event. I believe it could be done quickly for timely fund raising and proceeds could go to the Red Cross. The media could also be informed for some good will publicity for MPS.
Please email (plmr@sympatico.ca) or call me (613-298-0095) and let me know if you are interested or if there is some other way we can help.
